A great deal of confusion surrounds plastic surgery credentials, because of all of the self-appointed "Plastic Surgery Boards" that have sprung up in recent years.
The AMA created the American Board of Medical Specialists (ABMS) in 1933 for the purpose of
establishing medical specialty boards. Only the strictest criteria and qualifications were to be considered. The ABMS then established the American Board of Plastic Surgery in 1937, and remains the only plastic, cosmetic, or aesthetic surgery board recognized by the ABMS, as well as the AMA.
Dr. Anigian was credentialed by the American Board of Plastic Surgery in 1993 and continues to maintain the highest standard of excellence
set by the Board. He has the additional distinction of belonging to the American Society of Plastic Surgeons, as well as being a member of numerous other medical societies and associations.
